Jason's kernel from his repo (3.9.4) loads the firmware no problem after  
booting for my Triquel 6 machine with an Atheros 9271 chipset, but the  
linux-generic-lts-belenos_3.5.0.31 kernel did not work. I unplugged and  
plugged in the device multiple times and although my system detected the wifi  
device (lsusb), my system wouldn't connect.

I have no problem using Jason's latest kernel for now, but I am also looking  
forward to future releases of the 3.2, 3.5, 3.8 kernels supporting this out  
automatically.
