Most commercial DVDs are encrypted, and you need something that decrypts it  
for that. Such free software is illegal in the U.S. and possibly other  
countries because CSS is considered to be DRM. I think you should still use  
the censored software if you watch encrypted DVDs, but that means that DVDs  
are not a good choice.
