It is similar where I live. I've been to a few meetings and gave a presentation on microdistros once many years ago, but I don't seem to have much in common with the other members so I only keep in touch online now. When I had my preliterate then-four year old install Trisquel to make a point about how easy it is, my windows using friends just dismissed it as "Wow! It's an unschooling supergenius! He must be in Mensa!" That kind of turned me off to outreach and activism.
