That is because all Startpage results are taken directly from Google but in a  
way in which Google never see the person making the search or is able to  
access any of their personal data, nor place cookies.  That is the whole  
point of STartpage, to provide Google results without the privacy issues.

If you want to receive results that are not from Goolge you can use  
Startpage's sister search engine, Ixquick.com (they are both owned by the  
same company) which does not use Google results.
