This is not a feature I want to see in my machine regardless of its potential benefits. There are real concerns about security of the system. Increasing the complexity of the core software (BIOS) which is not easily upgradable is likely a cause for alarm. In general most of the non-free BIOS's that are used by manufacturers are really horrible. There are lots of unfixed bugs and other issues. Now add more software and your opening up a can of worms.
I would agree in that general assessment. There is no reliable information or
credible source that I can find which has looked into it. The problem is that
we shouldn't accept Intel's answer just because every reporting of this issue
makes it sound like its just a bunch of conspiracy nuts objecting. I mean
what a great way to ensure people with legitimate know-how, concerns, and a
reputation to protect don't post about it for fear of being labelled.
