While Zandronum is my favorite Doom source port, it's not free software friendly. Thank FMOD and Ken Silverman for that. If GZDoom removed the software renderer (or, preferably, rewrote the parts from the BUILD engine) and replaced the FMOD audio code, that it (and hopefully by extension Zandronum) would be Free Software. The closest equivilant would be the Odamex engine. While it isn't as advanced as ZDoom or Zandronum, it's the most advanced portability focused free software Doom port in existence. Combined with Free Doom, and you have a 100% libre game compatible with as many wads as possible.
