As ssdclickofdeath suggested, you should use some software recording utility, that can grab the the sound virtually. I am pretty sure you can find some on GNU/Linux, but since I does not need/use one, I cannot make any recommendation for you.
Recording sound directly from line out (jack connector) is a bad idea, since
the audio is converted from digital to analog signal using the onboard
converter/amplifier, and this seriously damages the audio source you want to
record (I have experience with this).
