You seem right, I've investigated it and it seems that there is a solution to  
use freecad without non-free stuff.

I've found this:

As a replacement for the Opencascade technology, perhaps we should ask the  
Trisquel development team to replace Opencascade instead of simply removing  
opencascade and freecad from the repos.
