No, not really. Unfortunately it is the "design" of the MBR that it generally needs to load a second-stage bootloader stored elsewhere, i.e. in another partition. An inconvenience or poor design doesn't make GNU/Linux any less free. In fact, it is Windows to blame here, as the Windows first stage bootloader is non-free and so nobody except for Microsoft can help you reinstall it. Andrew.
