So after I wrote that last post, I went in Nautilus to go look at the  
directories where the script would change the "changelogs" to ending with  
.old, and low and behold, they were already .old.  What I realize now is,  
first I did steps 1 through 4, then realized I had forgotten to do the Broken  
Dependencies thing in Synaptic, so I went back and did that, then did the  
steps again.  The second time, those files didn't exist because the script  
had done its job the first time.

Anyway, still after doing all that it still says that it depends on  
ia32-libs-multiarch but it is not installable.

Armworm, I really appreciate your taking the time to help me with this.  I'll  
be so relieved when it finally works.
