Also, the VideoLan Movie Creator looks very promising too; however, they do  
not have a stable release. It appears simple to use, which is a huge plus.

And just another thought, video editing in Blender is kind of like word  
processing in Gimp. You can do it, with amazing control and options, but most  
of those buttons and features aren't needed for the priority at hand.
