So what exactly is the benefit of a bunch of people submitting bugs and giving support in a forum? If you increase the number of those "maintainers" the amount of trust you will have to put into the main developer remains the same. I think you're trying to rationalize somehow why trisquel should not be a small distro; most of the common "small distros" have many people involved just like trisquel.
