What have you done exactly? "Copying sda1 onto sda2,3,4" does not mean much!  
Do you have four times the same content in all four partitions? If so, that  
is a pretty weird thing to do and I do not understand why you would not erase  
three of them (and extend the running partition with the liberated space).
