You should first try to find an alternative to Flash. For one of my math
courses I had to watch a video which seemed to be available only in flash (I
don't remember exactly but it may have been when I was using Ubuntu). I tried
using rekonq which could play stuff encoded in H.264, and the website used
HTML5 video. Later I found out that Firefox could use external gstreamer
codecs. Although H.264 is patented and I would have preferred something like
WebM, at least I didn't have to use nonfree software.
