Hm... I did some testing with Onboard (not in the login screen, I don't know  
how to get the on-screen keyboard to pop up there), and what I found was kind  
of weird: I found that I was able to type numbers with the numpad, but only  
if before that I pressed the Num Lock key each time. Otherwise, it treated  
them like their corresponding non-number equivalents (e.g. left arrow for 4  
and right arrow for 6). Could that be the problem?
