Said it better than I could. They appear to want to aspire to Free sotware  
but are going the usual Open source route and are caving for convienivce  
sake.

It is by no means the worst system around but there are so many area that  
need improvement. As you would know, this is an area that is staggeringly  
hard to make ground in.
