I never use JavaScript on this forum, so I can tell you with 100% certainty  
that you don't need JavaScript to log in or stay logged in.

Have you checked your cookie settings? If you're rejecting cookies, that  
might cause you problems. Rather than rejecting cookies, you might want to  
allow them, but keep them only until the browser is closed.
