There are really two things from being 100% libre:
1.) I have an Nvidia GTX 970 card that won't have basic detection without the
non-free Nvidia drivers until the 3.19 kernel. There are also rumors that
Nouveau will have support in the near future and they are waiting for Nvidia.
It will be interesting to see where the 3.20 kernel and above takes us. Until
then, I am stuck with the non-free drivers (installed as DKMS modules)
because I want to actually boot my machine with the $350 video card.
2.) I have one of the ThinkPenguin 802.11n adapters but it hasn't played nice
with the required cable modem/router combo that my ISP gave me. I think it is
a Motorola SURFboard and will disconnect me randomly at times. When its not
doing that, I get about 1 MB/sec max whereas I had to dig out an older
Linksys WUSB600Nv2 adapter to stop the disconnects. It would be nice if my
ISP let me do my own router since I have one running DD-WRT somewhere that
gave no issues with my free and non-free dongles.
I also went through the Trusty purge script and made sure that I have no
non-free programs installed. Of course due to firmware issues listed above, I
have to do workarounds. If I wait a year for better GTX 970 support in the
kernel and Nouveau and my ISP lets me use my own router, then I will be
running a totally free machine.
