The Mana World have potential but lacks an strategic component to the game
and a main story with boss fights would be great (There are good boss fights
on special quests BTW). I have to say that those things doesn't prevent me to
recommend the game: it is under constant development and perhaps the
strategic component arrives when you obtain magic which I never did.
The Battle for Wesnoth is not a mmorpg but a heavy strategy rpg... and a very
good one. It have story campaigns with a special taste of challenge. It is in
fact, one of the best video games I've ever played, even better than most of
the games I've played in my life and I'm including games from the proprietary
world I played before I discovered free as in freedom software.
I've played stendhal and is very good and hard also. Almost every enemy is
hostile and even the first misions are challenging: You have to cross lands
full of enemies with 80 levels above you
