I do not think you need to download any driver by hand. Are they even free  
software?

There is a utility in the "System settings" to add printers... but I ended up  
using an older one (that used to be shipped with Trisquel 6):  
"system-config-printer-gnome" that you can, for instance, install from the  
"Synaptic package manager" (in the "System settings" as well).
