One example is to view images on (the brand new, even more user hostile)  
Flickr without using JavaScript. Another was watching images on another site  
which had a fairly strict bandwidth limit, fortunately their material was  
mirrored on internet archive wayback machine so I could get it from there.

These were launchy + wget + sed and then fed back to the browser type of  
things. I'm sure a more imaginative fellow might come up with something more  
grand.
