DBAN (Darik's Boot and Nuke) is useful for overwrite all data on the disk:  
http://www.dban.org/ However it is not suitable for SSD disks. Other method  
is boot using a Trisquel Live session and then use shred utility from GNU  
coreutils via a command line.
