I agree, I would urge the distro maintainers to remove useless or broken  
tools as they waste new users time and give a bad impression. For example the  
non functional startup disk creator could be replaced with freenetbootin (I'm  
assuming it works, i haven't actually used it yet)

A significant proportion of GUI tools across all GNU/linux distros seem to be  
broken or useless in some way. It is really a problem as it reinforces  
GNU/linus users prejudice that GUIs are bad and reinforces everyone else's  
impression that GNU/linux is generally broken.
