This is one of the main problems with FLOSS in general. There are a lot of egos in a meritocracy and no one really wants to work together. This results in forking the software and now there are multiple versions of pretty much the same thing with smaller dev teams.

I've noticed that unless there is a corporation or established organization backing a free/open source project, it fades away or is Terri le as it is usually a one man team where that person is a student and is doing it for ideology instead of getting the necessary resources to make something that people need on a broader scale.

I've been a part of this forum for 4+ years now and have learned that the majority of die hard free software advocates would rather spend their efforts pointing fingers at you and tell you that you are wrong and unethical and their way is better. Meanwhile, nothing of substance really happens and while you are all pointing fingers, the world moves on.
