I finally solved the problem myself:For a reason I don't understand, Evolution works fine with STARTTLS on port 143, but it refuses to work with SSL on 993. To be sure, it wrk with SSL in other applications.
So, if anyone has trouble with IMAP in Evolution: try STARTTLS instead of SSL.
