There is a trademark on Windows, but it's not clear that it is a valid
trademark. Lindows was sued by Microsoft and the defence was "desktop windows
pre-dates Microsoft use of windows to describe a windowing
environment/operating environment/system" or something like this. Which is
true. There were lots of different windowing environments. Just look at X
Windows. Anyway- long story short Microsoft didn't want to lose its trademark
so they settled for 20 million. That is 20 million was paid to Lindows to
change its name. What a great deal, a?
