I've never tried FlightGear, but looking at a couple of videos, it's not even close. Early sixth generation, maximum. 0 A.D., I'd say around the middle of the 6th generation, based on the screenshots. Stunt Rally, somewhere in the middle of the 6th generation.

No libre game even compares to the level of graphical detail here. As far as I can tell, no gamer was particularly impressed by this. So this is, at best, average for a proprietary game released in 2011. And given the sample of other modern games I've seen footage of, this rings entirely true for me.

I don't mean to devalue libre games' graphical quality. I do appreciate the visuals in games like Xonotic, Naev, 0 A.D., Kobo Deluxe, Warzone 2100, and Armagetron Advanced. But unless you're planning on shutting yourself out from and alienating mainstream gamers, you should recognize that these games' graphics are nothing compared to what those gamers are currently used to.
