Hi,

the issue is that any barely grey or colored area ends up being printed in full black
regardless of the text/image in that area.

Here's what I tried up until now (and other helpful facts):
- tweaking options from the printing menu (like grayscale etc)
- getting familiar with CUPS localhost:631
I have a netinstall, and a few updates/upgrades removed the few GUI related to printing that were installed.
But with CUPS localhost and the CLI, (and the basic GUI), I'm doing fine.
- fact: my color cartridge is in place but empty
- I use Evince as a PDF reader
- I tried, as suggested on an Ubuntu forum, that making it a jpeg is an alternative. But there are 2 downsides : Making a long PDF into jpeg takes a decent amount of time (printing via GIMP). And it prints a bit too light, but that might get fixed by tweaking the settings (maybe less brightness and more or less contrast).

Thanks in advance.
