whoa. I took out the space AND the comma and got this:

bj@bj-Latitude-D610:/etc/default$ sudo update-grub
Generating grub configuration file ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-3.13.0-39-lowlatency
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-3.13.0-39-lowlatency
  No volume groups found
done

did that do it?

problem not is I can't get the /proc/cmdline command to return anything. All I see is

bj@bj-Latitude-D610:/etc/default$ sudo /proc/cmdline
sudo: /proc/cmdline: command not found

or

bj@bj-Latitude-D610:/etc/default$ proc/cmdline
bash: proc/cmdline: No such file or directory

Believe I have the syntax wrong but can't find the right way to enter the command.

Thanks for the help
