Why is it an "advanced task"? You just open the graphic interface and modify  
the settings. I don't see why anybody should do updates every day via command  
line.
Btw, i am using Trisquel mini on an old Dell as well and never had problems  
with the graphic updater. Whether it didn't always download every  
downloadable package i don't know. I use Synaptic from time to time and do  
updates there.
