Next time you should wait a bit longer before rushing to shut stuff down the day after you launch it. These things take time to grow.
Also, there are hardly enough users of Trisquel in general to warrant separate-language channels on IRC, unlike Debian for instance. You could also have edited the Trisquel documentation on the web site to promote the French-language thing. Did you also post in the French users section of the forum?
