@Topic: I have a similar issue since I recently updated to a newer
Thunderbird version. I'm not able to send e-mails with attachment any more.
That's a VERY annoying thing for me and I already had to change to claws-mail
even though I don't like its style too much. However, claws-mail works like a
charm with the very same server settings as Icedove.
The error message I keep getting is:
"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the
connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) [any SMTP server here...] was lost in
the middle of the transaction. Try again."
