although I tend to agree with onpon4 that Mr. Murdock probably had an unrealistically high opinion of human nature and did not anticipate the fact that mainstream media is quickly dismissing the incident as "the nonsensical drunken ravings of a lunatic".

I find the spin of the SFBay article:

particularly chilling.
