There is no such thing as "free hardware". All computers include many  
components sourced from one of a couple giant corporations, and not only are  
the designs of these components unavailable, few would be able to build the  
expensive factories needed to produce the hardware themselves, anyway. So  
having a "Free Hardware Foundation" would be just as redundant as a "Time  
Travel Foundation". There's nothing realistic it could do, and it would just  
be a waste of money.
