Such a computer would be better than what we currently have. I would look at
it pragmatically. A hypothetical computer with free hardware design, free
bootloader, free graphics and wireless, but with the non-free IO controller
is less bad if they have a commitment to use their best efforts to make the
IO controller free. I think Google chromebooks are an example of computers
with a free embedded controller (which I think probably plays a similar role)
so it is not unrealistic that an embedded controller could be freed.
Lowrisc would be good for laptops and tablets. Single board computers are
becoming cheaper, so a truly free computer may arrive in the near future.
