I would test the hardware: the disk with a SMART self-test and the RAM with  
memtest86+. Everything is in Trisquel's repository. To boot on memtest86+,  
you need the GRUB password in /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD (or, better, disable  
this useless password).
