It worked with an external HDD too, but not only do I have to eject through  
the CLI, but the ejection doesn't seem to work : the disks are still turning  
fast, and the disk name is still displayed in Thunar. I assume this is a  
security feature.

When I let it rest, and the led turns itself off, I can unplug it without any  
weird noise. But it takes AGES.
On a proprietary lappy, it ejects and quiets down right away. This is my  
goal.

As usual, any tip is warmly welcomed!
