I agree on this point. Before I switched to GNU/Linux (but had heard of it
and was very interested in it), I tried to use as much libre software as
possible. I tried things such as GIMP, LibreOffice and I stopped using Google
Chrome (and use of Google). I also tried software out such as GNU Emacs and
MinGW so that I could see what it was like.
However, I fear that this may not go the way Canonical is planning. I
honestly don't see what this achieves, when packages such as the
aforementioned Emacs are already available.
