So to make a completely libre version of Tails, all that's needed is to remove the blobs again. Or better yet, just copy their build process and modify it to not add the firmware blobs back in.
What does not having special security features have to do with proprietary
firmware blobs? You can even ask the Tails developers if you don't believe
me; they're quite up-front about this. Tails adds back in firmware blobs for
wireless cards so that it can work with the Internet on as many computers as
possible. They consider this to be more important than making Tails entirely
libre, and I don't really blame them, to be honest.
