[Trisquel-users] alternative DE repos truly free?

When installing alternative desktop environments the Trisquel documentation  
suggests adding Ubuntu repositories to /etc/apt/sources.list .
Are those repositories truly free as in freedom if they are not part of the  
Trisquel project?
