I think like 2-3 years ago, someone combed through the Chromium source code  
and he gave up. It would be curious to see what the status is of the licenses  
inside the code and if the browser can be rebuilt without the questionable  
bits. I think Chromium is a great browser, but people around here don't seem  
to trust it.

Hopefully Mozilla's upcoming Servo based browser closes the gap with  
Chrome/Chromium. There are test builds for GNU/Linux at  
https://download.servo.org
