hi, and welcome! Others might give you better answers, but for now here's mine: WiFi is probably because your card is unsupported.Maybe upgrading the kernel would do, but you can also buy a (cheap) new one which is supported.
I have no idea about screen resolution, but it's probably something about non-free drivers as well.
