I dug about a bit and found this solution to my problem:

Permission Denied Errors
Some versions of Déjà Dup will not correctly restore files stored in a
folder that you did not have write access to when you backed them up. After
the restore completes, you will get an error screen listing each file that
was not restored. You can still manually copy the files to where you’d like
them to be by going to the temporary folder named in the error dialog and
moving the files.
General Fallback
If for whatever reason, you have a problem after trying to restore with the
“Restore files to original locations” option, try restoring again to a
temporary directory and moving your files to where they belong."

I ended up going with the 'fallback' and restoring a Home directory to a temp
folder, on the new computer.
HELP!
Now...! I think I can remove the files in the existing Home directory
folder, and replace them with the files of the restored Home directory folder
standing by in the temp folder.
Is this correct?
