We have had similar discussions with certain French users for several months now.
Trisquel's situation is a major concern for all of us and i'm glad that such a discussion can be engaged,here and addressed to the FSF.
A lot of people here have immense talent and are just simply not given the possibility to contribute to the project in a proper way.
We asked on the dev list for the emplementation of Drupal Groups which would give the possibillity to those whishing to contribute ways of communicating between themwselves instead of using other platforms (this request was not answered) thus enabling them to make tecnical requests (site & wiki, translations)
Basically there is a "communication""issue which has become quite fustrating, but understandingly an entire community cannot put all it's weight on one man's shoulder.
