You can limit the amount of info they get on you. Not using their service in a browser is a good start. Even better if you get yourself a VPN and paste the yt links directly in a video player that supports it, in order to stream the vid (like say smplayer). Or you can download the videos using youtube-dl. That way they don't even get your IP address. They get 0.

BTW youtube-dl is not only an excellent utility with many many options to use, but it also support a ton of websites.
