Yes, you need to sudo apt-get install qemu kvm.
Unless you choose to go with Onpon's suggestion, of course, in which case
gnome boxes will take care of the dependencies for you.
I find the command line method much quicker and a lot less hassle, but like
many folks without a lot of technical background, I needed a bit of hand
holding and encouragement to trust myself enough to even try it.
So I'll pay it forward and hold your hand and tell you to trust yourself
now....if you want....
I also like how portable the VMs are, which is not the case with Gnome Boxes,
aqemu, or Virtual Box. Mine sit in an external drive in the back of my closet
when not in use. I could start them from there if I wanted or copy them to a
local drive or flash drive and start them effortlessly from any computer that
has qemu kvm installed and enough RAM for virtualization.
But I digress...
