Since a long time, I've been interested in Free Software, but have always
remained a newbie, even if I already went to 2 encounters (FISL in Brazil).
I've already had some short experiences with other OS (Fedora, Ubuntu, and I
think Debian also). Now, I've been almost 1 year on Trisquel and it is very
very wonderful. I've seen Trisquel 8 as well and it is wonderful also. I must
say that I know nothing of programming (I hope that someday I might learn it)
and that I am not clever at computing. But I want to learn more about these
issues. I just need to organize better in order to study them.
I however had some little problems with installing for instance the Esperanto
version of Trisquel 7 (the keyboard didn't work as that one of Brazilian
Portuguese and I did not succeed to type words in Portuguese). Afterwards, I
succeeded to install Trisquel 7 in Brazilian Portuguese and use special
keyboard shortcuts. But I reinstalled Trisquel 7 and now I cannot type one
letter of Esperanto alphabet. However, it is ok, because I can use other
methods.
I installed yesterday Trisquel 8, which I found in a link in a topic in this
forum, it is quite nice and great, however I did not succeed again to install
the Esperanto version of it (same keyboard problem) and it was interesting
that I did not succeed to deactivate the screen reader. Even in the Brazilian
Portuguese version there was this problem. The program Orca was not open.
Then I came back to Trisquel 7.
But all this is just a mere detail in the greatness that is the experience of
using a 100% free OS.
I have a lot more to improve. I need yet to migrate to fully free social
networks and email providers. And I intend to do so at least during this
year.
I hope I may participate more in the forum and learn more about free software
and programming.
Perhaps, this is because Trisquel does not run well in my computer, it is
from a Brazilian brand called Positivo.
Your Thankfulness and it is really very nice to begin more effectively to
participate in the free software movement.
