Is LXDE still being developed? I was under the impression that PCMan had moved development efforts over to LXQT and the Qt toolkit due to his frustration with GTK development.
Trisquel (as upstream) has had a majority GTK orientation to it over the years so that may play a role in what lightweight DE is used. If LXDE is still being developed alongside LXQT that would be perfect for T8.
It seems strange to me that a 'lightweight' version of a distro should be based on Qt and presumably K Apps. I have always thought of KDE and it's apps as shiny, very full-featured and more resource intensive than the GTK side. Maybe that's a false perception these days.
