Totally speculating here, but it's possible that any planned copyright  
extension was buried in the fine print of the TPP, with the intention of  
imposing it across a large number of countries rather than just the US and  
that it may have died with the TPP (crossing my fingers). Although I guess if  
Disney and co. have a chat to the Prez over chocolate cake...
