Trisquel's default display manager is LightDM and I have been using GDM for  
years.  But, if I remember well, there is an icon next to your user name,  
after you click it at the graphical login screen.  This icon allow you to  
choose your graphical environment (assuming you have previously installed it  
with the package manager).
